Agro-Ecological Territories for Climate Action

> Climate awareness among territorial mediators.

> Action to strengthens sustainable land use and agri-environmental strategies within a Western Balkan network of territories.

Following the “ABC Balkans” project and the encounters of Skopje which end on the Declaration of Skopje, we understood:

– that the biodiversity – climate – agriculture nexus makes sense for all the participants who agreed on the importance of the meso-territorial level to tackle the nexus issues;

– the importance (and lack of occasion) to work at regional level (6WBC) with a European accession focus and within the European debate on environmental transitions;

– regional advocacy on climate change/biodiversity/resource is needed to give more voice and visibility to these issues

– the need for training in climate issues and awareness-raising tools for NGOs and territorial mediators to build more comprehensive territorial strategies with local actors.

This action, carried out with Climate Awareness Association (CAA) in Kosovo and Zeleno Doba (Center for Sustainable Growth and Development Green Age) in Serbia, aims to:

– consolidate and animate the Regional Network by identifying “target territories”, and animating virtual seminars;

– design and test climate/biodiversity awareness training for “territorial mediators” relevant for each territory;

– running the Climate Awareness Training for Agroecology Territories in the 6 Western Balkan countries. CAA will manage the training in Kosovo, Albania and North Macedonia, and Zeleno Doba in Serbia, Bosnia-and-Herzegovina and Montenegro;

– supporting Territorial Mediators as Climate ambassadors – by communication and spin off effect.

With this action we except to:

– strengthen and complete the Regional Network and build collectively common perspective and projects about the nexus of climate change/biodiversity on territories ;

– raise awareness on climate change bundled with a territorial approach ;

– validate and stabilize contents (based on robust science results and experiences) about the climate change/biodiversity nexus at territorial levels, adapted to the situation of the region and the 6 WBC – to be publicized in the social medias and website of our partners and ours – in english, BCMS and Albanian ;

– built synergies with other actions and project conducted in the region by the team and its partners (on Geographical indications and local food-system notably).
